Weld Rd Planting

At 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, EnviroKura traveled to Weld Road to plant 2500 various plants along the dunes. Here is a list of the native species that we were given by DOC to plant:
  • Ficinia Spiralis - "Pingao"
  • Spinifex Sericeus - "Kowhangatara"
  • Muehlenbeckia Complexa - "Wire Vine, Pohuehue"

Even though it rained, everyone had a good time planting and felt that they had done a good deed. Here are some photos from the day's experience.

EnviroKura

Over the last week, EnviroKura has put together dozens of great ideas and we have narrowed these ideas down to three or four projects with the help of our 'enviro teachers': Mr. Smith and Lauree. Our current environment leaders are Connor, Bastian, and Hayley, who are enthusiastic about helping the environment. These Enviro Leaders have been researching about the most popular projects, as voted by all the children that come to our Thursday EnviroKura sessions: Insect Houses, Bee/Flower Gardens, Worm Farms and Compost Bins.
